Summer Learning Journey - Traditional Breakfast Meals

For this activity I had to compare the picture of common breakfast foods in the country I chosen with what you typically eat for breakfast here in New Zealand. On my blog, I had to tell

  1. What you eat for breakfast - Milo Cereal.
  2. What people in your chosen country for breakfast -

  1. Hi Sharon,

I'm interested to know that you like Milo cereal! That's not a name of a cereal that I'm familiar with, here in Canada.

We eat granola for breakfast, which is like muesli. Our other favourite food is home-made bread with peanut butter. We like the protein from the peanut butter and it tastes delicious, especially when we add bananas to the peanut butter on our toast. Yum!

Pancakes are a very commonly eaten breakfast here because we have an abundance of maple syrup available to us. Maple syrup is made by tapping maple trees in the spring, taking the sap to a fireplace and boiling it until it becomes thick and syrupy. The syrup has vitamins and minerals that are quite healthy for us. But it is also very sweet so we try not to eat too too much of it on our pancakes - not good for our teeth or our waistlines!

I hope that you're enjoying some treat foods while on holiday - perhaps some ice cream cones?

I'm looking forward to your next blog postings!

  4. Hi Sharon,

I find it really interesting to read that you like to eat Milo cereal for breakfast. I have never tried it. Is it good?

I wonder if you would prefer Milo cereal or Canadian cereals for breakfast. I grew up eating a cereal called 'Shreddies' that I absolutely love. It is my favourite cereal and I miss it so much now that I live in New Zealand full-time. When I get the chance I always ask my mom to send me boxes of Shreddies. She is going to come and visit me in September. Perhaps I'll be able to convince her to bring a box with her in her suitcase :)

To earn full points for this activity, we need you to tell us about what Canadians eat for breakfast and then tell us which option (milo cereal or the Canadian breakfast) you would prefer.

I'll look forward to popping back soon to read your blog and see which breakfast option you have chosen as your preference.

    Bye for now,

    Rachel :)
